PROBLEM

BCI mandate Dean Executive Search to attract a Senior Principal to its Venture & Growth group in Victoria, BC. When we were retained, the team was newly-established, but had great ambitions to grow its presence in North America, with the backing of BCI. The focus of our search was on identifying candidates who brought a mix of deal experience and penchant for this exciting asset class.

The team focused on partnering with best-in-class founders who have built market-leading companies with sustainable competitive advantages and multiple value creation opportunities.

APPROACH

In leading this effort, our team focused on candidates from the venture & growth funds across Canada, as well as within startups and early-stage companies who had garnered both the requisite technical / financial modeling “underpinning” and who showed promise as high-potential deal-sourcers for a growing portfolio.

We identified a range of highly accomplished individuals, who brought a range of deal-making experience and knowledge from across range of industries to be effective in identifying target investments. Top candidates for this role possessed a strong technical foundation, as well as superior execution skills, with strong mentorship and emerging stakeholder management skills.
