PROBLEM
Jamieson had been backed by private equity firm, CCMP, prior to the company’s IPO. We were engaged after the company had gone public, as the CEO & his management team felt that Jamieson had a significant growth opportunity through digital commerce. Investors were also pushing for expansion into the US. As such, Management believed it important to establish a digital strategy to broaden distribution (such capabilities did not exist prior to the search).
APPROACH
We agreed on a broad search strategy, and approached candidates who brought best practices from high-growth market-leading retailers and eCommerce marketplaces, together with a highly entrepreneurial approach. In all cases, we sought team players with a very collaborative orientation, noting the CEO’s focus on low-ego teammates. We were attracted to candidates who had strong strategic mindsets with a roll-up-the sleeves approach to execution. We gave priority to those who had built eCommerce functions from the ground up.
The Board, led by its former President, views this as one of the most strategic hires that Jamieson has ever made.
